Practical guides for your first years on your own

You moved out, or you are about to. The paycheck looks smaller than the offer letter, the lease has pages you did not read, and somebody just asked whether you filed taxes. This site is for that season: money, work, housing, cars, credit, and taxes, written for you, not for your parents.

Every page answers the question in the first two sentences, then shows the working. Where a number matters, we link the agency that publishes it. Where we have not verified a live figure yet, we say so and point you at the primary source instead of inventing one.

First-Month Adulting Checklist. A short list of the first-month money, housing, and paperwork moves most people miss. Email hello@firsttimeadulting.com with that subject line and we will send it when it is ready. No automated list yet; this is a real inbox.
